Peoples Company and Diligent Development teamed up March 1 to present the 12th Annual Builder and Developer Luncheon at the Hilton Garden Inn West Des Moines. Development trends, as well as local and national housing trends, were addressed by three different keynote speakers.
Daron Joffe, the founder of Farmer D Consulting, provided background on the 20 years he spent designing and building community farms and gardens all over the country. His work developing residential “agrihood” communities was of particular interest since the recent announcement that Dilligent Development is working on plans to develop an “agrihood” in Cumming, Iowa. (If plans move forward, it would be the first development of it’s kind in the state.)
Remarks from Joffe, were followed by a national economic update from Ralph McLaughlin of CoreLogic. Primarily focusing on the housing and mortgage market, McLaughlin shared his insights regarding market trends in 2018 and projections for 2019.
Kalen Ludwig a Realtor and Residential specialist for Peoples Company brought remarks to a close by providing recent insights and housing information for 19 different Des Moines Metro communities, as well as sharing data from her Quarter 1 2019: Des Moines Metro Housing Snapshot.
