New Opportunities for Retail, Restaurants and Office Space
The City of Johnston and The Hansen Company have been working together to refine the design concept for the Johnston Town Center. The Town Center Project is a City Council Initiative to encourage redevelopment of Merle Hay Road and create a commercial center for the City of Johnston that will serve is a local destination for dining, shopping and entertainment.
Construction of the new 24,000 SF City Hall and attached amphitheater kicked off the Johnston Town Center project in October 2019. Development of The Yard, a splash pad, ice skating rink and the initial commercial buildings will emerge in 2020, shortly after completion of City Hall.
Responding to Residents
The City of Johnston conducted a survey to ask residents how they feel about living in Johnston and the needs of the community. The results are in, and its clear Johnston residents want to shop at your business and dine in your restaurant.
- 87% of Johnston residents are satisfied with the overall quality of life in Johnston.
- 72% of Johnston residents put an emphasis on having more retail options available.
