The Johnston City Council recently joined other area communities with an endorsement of the Skilled Iowa Program.
The Skilled Iowa Program utilizes the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC), a tool that assists both job seekers and employers by determining a baseline of skills and providing resources to improve skills. As a part of the agreement the City has made a commitment to “recommend the National Career Readiness Certificate in hiring and/or promotion practices for one or more positions in our organization.” Johnston employers are also encouraged to participate in the Skilled Iowa Program.
