A recent study conducted by Iowa Workforce Development provides information to employers and economic developers about the availability of workers in the Johnston area. The study examines the “laborshed” for Johnston, Grimes and Urbandale, and provides insight about workers in our area including commuters.
For employers, a Laborshed study attempts to answer a few fundamental questions.
- If I locate or expand in a particular geographic area, will I be able to hire enough qualified workers?
- What wages, salary and benefits will I need to provide in order to attract those workers to my company?
