If you are a business, developer, broker, contractor, financial institution, engineer, architect, attorney, citizen or city leader, then you have a stake in our efforts to make development in Johnston successful. Here are a few of the things we have done in 2008. Be sure to review the 2009 event schedule and mark your calendar! Marketing Tour 2008 – Our annual bus tour and reception featuring the development sites in Grimes and Johnston. A Johnston tradeshow exhibit has been used to promote Johnston at numerous member locations throughout the community as well as at events sponsored by the Professional Developers of Iowa, the Greater Des Moines Partnership and the Iowa Commercial Real Estate Association. Strategic Leadership An updated Laborshed Study for Johnston in collaboration with the Greater Des Moines Partnership and MidAmerican Energy was completed. JEDCO actively participates in planning discussions with the City of Johnston to facilitate development and to help keep our community competitive. Infrastructure JEDCO has helped support policies which will ensure that Johnston has the infrastructure (roads, utilities) that are necessary for development. Problem Solving JEDCO has actively participated in the City of Johnston community development process. Member developers know that JEDCO is ready to assist with their projects and activities during the planning and approval process. JEDCO supports redevelopment options for Merle Hay Road.
