Johnston Economic
Development
Member Benefits
When you think
of economic development in Johnston, keep these terms in mind:
Marketing, Strategic Leadership,
Infrastructure, and
Problem Solving. If you are a business, developer, broker,
contractor, financial institution, engineer, architect, attorney, citizen or
city leader, then you have a stake in our efforts to make development in
Johnston successful. Here are a few of the things we have done in 2006 - and
some highlighted plans for 2007. Be sure to review the 2007
event schedule and mark your
calendar!
Marketing
-
Tour 2006 – Our second
annual bus tour and reception featuring the development sites in Grimes
and Johnston.
-
JEDCO joined the Greater Des
Moines Partnership staff at the CORENET Global Summit earlier this
month. CORENET is an international association of corporate real estate
professionals.
-
A Johnston tradeshow exhibit
has been used to promote Johnston at numerous member locations
throughout the community as well as at events sponsored by the
Professional Developers of Iowa, the Greater Des Moines Partnership and
the Iowa Commercial Real Estate Association.
Strategic Leadership
-
JEDCO participated in the
Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Destiny DC 2006 Initiative – advocating
a GDMP and MPO funding request for a Full-Build Out Transportation Plan
for NW Polk and NE Dallas County as well as funding for future trail and
road projects in Johnston.
-
A Laborshed Study for
Johnston in collaboration with the Greater Des Moines Partnership and
MidAmerican Energy was completed.
-
JEDCO actively participates
in planning discussions concerning future amendments to the Johnston
Comprehensive Plan and future annexation areas to ensure that Johnston
has room to grow in the future.
Infrastructure
Problem Solving
-
JEDCO has actively
participated in the City of Johnston community development process.
Member developers know that JEDCO is ready to assist with their projects
and activities during the planning and approval process.
-
JEDCO will participate in
the study of redevelopment options for Merle Hay Road. We look
forward to working with RDG Planning & Design and the City of Johnston
on this important project.
